What's the broadband hamnet activity like in Austin, TX right now?  These forums are dead, I reflashed a router several months ago, of course I'm too far away, (close to Manchaca, TX) to connect to anyone, but would invest in a directional antenna if I know I could connect.

Just wondering....

So, it's been over 2 months since you posted this, but I hope you see this reply anyway.  I'm just getting into this aspect of ham radio (my WRT54G is in the mail and should be here next week).  I'll need someone to connect to if you're game!  I'm located in far SW Austin towards Dripping Springs.

Hey Harvey, sorry for the delayed reply. I still have my router, i've yet to purchase a directional antenna though until I know i'd get some return on investment. You're 14 miles away from my qth, I sit @ 745 ft elevation, I know there's some minor terrain between you and I, I wouldn't be opposed to trying! shoot me an email @ k5acl@arrl.net, hop on the n5oak net sometime if your interested too, 147.320 pl tone 114.8, thursday nights @ 8 pm, I can usually be found there lurking, or simplex. 73 Johnny

I am just now starting the process of setting up my first node. I'm way north Austin so I can't be much help but would still like to keep in touch in case you can connect with my node (or vv) on the mesh network.
