I flashed and setup a node for a friend of mine using the v2 software.  When I went over to install it on the tower and get everything online, he couldn't remember the password he gave me...

I needed to upgrade the software to match everything around him which is now on Ver3!

I found the instructions for the LinkSys router and got that password fixed - but now I have his Bullet that I can't do anything with...

No password, no config or upgrade...  HELP!?!  :)

Anyone got any good ideas?  I have tried the instructions that worked on the LinkSys, and couldn't get the v2 software to reset.  I am stumped at this point...

Trying real hard to get all the local guys interested in this in Brenham, TX.!

Thanks for the link...  I did the TFTP procedure and it worked!  I upgraded the unit and now it works like a charm...

You can find TFTP procedures though a google search. Search for "TFTP Firmware Ubiquiti," and click on the link titled "Firmware Recovery - Ubiquiti Wiki." It will take you here: http://wiki.ubnt.com/Firmware_Recovery

I am glad that you able to get into your friends node.  A TFTP flash is almost as easy as uploading from the web interface.  

For the person who finds this thread in the future, I wanted to mention that there is a feature in the UBNT firmware to reset the password.

With the node powered up press the reset button, either on the device or the POE injector, for 5 seconds and the password is reset to hsmm.  Press the reset button for 15 seconds and the node will be reset to a just flashed state.

Hopefully this will help.

I have a Ubiqiti Bullet M2 and have followed the instructions here to reset the password and cannot get it to reset.

Held the reset button for 5 seconds which by the instructions should reset the password to "hsmm" but it doesn't.


I really need to get into this BUllet to use it at my work duties.


Any suggestions?

I have a Rocket M2 flashed with 1.1.2 and have tried every password I can think I may have used. 

I tried 5 seconds on the reset button on the device, but nothing seems to change.  Any ideas how the reset/recover the password for this device? 

I have it currently connected to a windows 10 machine...
