Ok so I am missing the boat here, how in the world do you install the patch to take the node from3.0.0 up to 3.10? I tried to upload the file to the node but don't like it, can someone tell me please what I am doing wrong....

         Thanks, W4WWS

If you upload it like a normal firmware file, it should just go in. What error did you get?

I can not get on the boat. Got eight nodes running, six with my call, two with my friends call. Can not seem to run the patch. Get a message "Firmware cannot be updated the uploaded file is no recognized" I even tried to unzipping the patch file changing it from a TGZ file to a TAR file but still same message. Any help would be appreciated and Thanks from Tennessee

Are you patching Linksys or Ubiquiti nodes? If you have both types of nodes there is a specific file for each type. It's NOT one file patches all. :) That error message is only used by our firmware if the file name of the patch does not match "patch*.tgz".

OK All the nodes are Linksys and I am trying to use the "Firmware update" under the administrator heading with the patch. Would I be better served to just go pull them all in, one is high on the tower and run the 3.1.0 TRX file??

Running Linksys WRT54G nodes and I have the same problem.  Getting the same error when trying to install the patch to go from 3.0.0 to 3.1.0.  I have checked and checked again to make sure I have the right file and I do.... any suggestions?

I am also running the Linksys WRT54 series and have the right file. After over a week of trying to upgrade from 3.0 to 3.1 I am still not able to make this patch work. Can anyone give me any help? Once again would I be better off to try the 3.1.0 trx file as I have not tried that?

Given that error message either the file name is getting changed, either by you or the computer you're uploading from, OR the Perl script that generates the Admin page is boogered up.

Could you please post a screenshot JUST BEFORE you press the [Upload] button when you get the error message?

After that, please stop the frustration and just upload the full .trx file. :)

OK I was down loading the patch to memory stick and putting it in a folder on the computer that I set up to run the mesh {no internet} after hooking the router up for internet access and down loading the patch directly to the router then running firmware upgrade it took right off. Worked fine! Guess it was being changed as I moved it. I noticed it corrected the time on the router with internet access but can I correct any remotely? My THANKS to the group of you that taken the time to set this up as it adds to the ham hobby, great fun and a very good learning experience for those of us that up until now knew very little about 2.4Ghz or networks in general. Keep up the good work.

Hi All.

I updated my Linksys routers from v3.0 to v3.1 today. Initially I downloaded the normal file and the patch to My Documents I then connected the mesh router to the PC to upload via the administrator tab. I got an error message saying it could not load the file (either of them).

I then connected the mesh router to my internet router and did the update as a download from the Mesh website. I used the refresh file box them chose the patch file. It worked a treat, it took longer for the box to reboot.

All my units are now up to date but my question is. Why could I not upgrade my units with the file from my PC?

The filename extension change is created by your operating system. Always verify that the file you download and the stored copy have exactly the same name. You can always rename the newly saved file to correct the error.
