I have a Linksys WRT54G V.3 it has firmware version 1.0.0

I was told I needed to down load firmware version 2

when I look at the download page I can not tell which one I need

I don't understand the method used all I see are version's 1.something not version 2. something

would someone help this old man to understand what I need to do?

thanks Larry KB8EMD

Larry, version "2" or "v2" is what has been showing in the 'SSID' (can see by doing the "wifi scan" button from the mesh status page. Look for firmware version 1.1.2 on the download page. There is an experimental section on the download page and the numbers are now synced up so that "v3" is "3.0.0". Nodes are only compatible of the same version. Joe AE6XE

I would highly encourage you to skip the 1.1.2 version and go directly to 3.0.0.  Yes the 3.0.0 is listed as "experimental", but 1.1.2 has to many problems to be used in a production environment.  3.0.0 has fixed or mitigated the problems and in my opinion is a much better product than 1.1.2.

3.0.0 is not backward compatible with 1.1.2 so the entire mesh will need to update.

Thanks Clint: while the V3 may be the one to use at this time I would be the only one in our group we all are very new just getting our feet wet. Our last meeting while informative I found out some of the group has changed to V2 from V1 and didn't tell the rest of the group. "They" are the ones with the most installed gear I will bring up the need to have a way to let us all know when there is a group change that needs to be made. if what you say about V2 is true we all should change to V3. it does no one any good if my node can't talk to the other nodes. thanks for the heads up Larry
